I loved the bible study, Discerning the Voice of God. It was just as good the second time around as it was the first. One would think after completing it the second time, I’d really know how to discern His voice. Yet, here I sit still wondering, is that really what God is saying?
There were several takeaways, but the biggest was how important it is to simply be still and walk through the waiting with God. He says, “be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). In those moments when we want to rush through situations, is when God is working. We need to stop, and be still.
I’ve seen lots of posts in regards to the “waiting.” The waiting is needed in so many situations. For example, when a woman is pregnant, it takes months for the baby to develop, so us mamas wait. In that time, the baby grows, we prepare the home, our body stretches and prepares for childbirth. Imagine finding out your pregnant and one week later bringing home the baby. Can we say unprepared?! How about going on vacation? While we are waiting for that exciting time we are preparing – making our lists, stocking up on things to take, deciding our plans for dinners, attractions, and looking up all the fun things to do. Again, if we left the day after we booked the trip, can you imagine the stress of scrambling to get it all together? Me. Either.
While Noah waited….he built the ark.
While David waited…he was a shepherd.
While Abraham waited…he obeyed.
What are you going to do while you wait? Worry? Be frustrated? Take control? I encourage you to be still, seek and speak. Be still and trust that God has this. Seek his word daily because that’s where we find peace and comfort. Speak to God about what’s on your heart and all your feelings. He wants to hear from you!
In this time of waiting, He knows just what you need so let the Master go to work. Not just on the situation, but let Him work in your heart too. He’s definitely been working on mine!
